Well…a party in the sense that people will be drinking beer while we build mallets and working on polo bikes. Party makes it sound like less work.

What: The purposes of this event will be for regulars to improve or build new mallets for personal use and also to build as many mallets as we can for the KC Polo Expo, which is coming up at the end of March. Our plan is to put mallets in people’s hands as give-aways, with hopes that this will encourage interested players to return, after the expo. Mallets are essentially constructed with ski poles and hdpe gas pipe.This link will give you an idea of the process we use to build mallets.
Also, Elrod will offer his tools and wisdom to service polo bikes. If you need help building your polo bike or just help with your brake, for example, this event is an opportune time for that. We should also have corrugated plastic for those who want it.
Other news: There is rumor that we have been asked to put on a bike polo demo for Kansas City’s velocipede and tweed ride on April 3rd. I found (and later saw that Vanessa had also discovered) the video below. It is a well edited montage video of 7th Midwest Champeenship highlights. It looks like Mr. Do of MPLS put this together. Its pretty great.
I’m in for shoveling on Saturday. Let’s hope for minimal snow.
I don’t have many details on the Tweed ride either. I know that it will be at Loose Park, thats where the ride will begin and end.

Yo KC! Glad to see you guys are trudging through the winter. The polo-expo sounds awesome. We’ve been meaning to do a “newb-night”, but i might have to steal that name.
It might take a while with the busy season, but we’ll head west and visit you soon!
garage-less winter is rough, but we’re trying. it seems to snow just enough to spoil our weekly polo plans and its not getting any warmer. but hopefully by the end of the month we’ll see some temps in the 40’s.
yeah if you guys can’t make it to our friendlies in april, we’ll see you in como this march at least. and of course the midwests.
