March Madness

We’re preparing for the Expo, which is this weekend! If the forecast stays true, the weather will be nice. We’re going to post some flyers, that my friend Mike designed, around town this week. Feel free to do the same! I’m really hoping for a good turnout. We need more people to start playing!

The Tweed ride bike polo demonstration is still on for April 3rd (although I have not found mention of it, or kcbp, on their website). I believe the demonstration will be towards the end of the event. I’m glad they asked us to do this; it will be a good chance to promote our club to a wider audience, plus a tweed ride sounds pretty great. Outfits such as those pictured below will be appropriate attire for polo players (and I’m sure there are other good examples).

Also, we have been asked to act as Corkers for the ride.

In sad news, Brian and Vanessa of famed Kansas City Bicycle Polo, and great contributors to the club, will be moving in a very eastward way next month. They both supported this club and helped improve it. Thanks guys! Best of luck to you both.

In other’s news, Minneapolis bike polo club has gained non-profit organization status. I believe they are the first polo club in North America to do so. I’m excited to see what they do with it. Learn more about it on their beautiful website, of which I am envious.

A good friend of mine is trying to get polo started in Nashville, TN. He witnessed the como pull-out and saw what kc polo was up to and liked what he saw. I have a good feeling about a polo scene in Nashville; they have moderate weather and a nice bike scene. Currently, they are having a difficult time finding ski poles through thrift stores, craigslist, and ebay. They have considered buying them from REI. If anyone has any solutions for Nashville’s polo problem, let me know! Thanks!
